Brand identity for a flamenco performance.

Al Son del Tiempo is a flamenco performance presented by Alejandra Tafich Barragán in benefit of Pequeñ@s Ciudadan@s (Little Citizens, in Spanish), an organization with a mission to educate a new generation of Mexicans to learn about their rights, their culture and how to be active and opinionated citizens in their communities.

Al Son del Tiempo strives to deliver a unique performance by mixing different elements together such as classical and flamenco music, dance, and song combined around the theme about the four seasons: summer, autumn, winter and spring. The performance includes participation from Alejandra on dance, Juan D’Anyelica on guitar, Manuel Gago on voice and a chamber orchestra led by Maestro Claudio Tarris, including the choreographic direction of Betty Villarreal and a corps of 20 dancers.

To give the show its identity, our challenge was to reflect on a way to demonstrate the four seasons in a unique and iconic way. In order to do this, we used photographs taken by Narno Casasus, and created a collage using specific parts of different images to create a composition that reflects how the different seasons are all part of the same year, or in this case, the same performance.

To create the logo we used personalized lettering to express the purity and nature of flamenco, along with a typeface fully integrated into the art. Each separate element comes together to create a piece where the images, texture, colors and typography form a single composition that reflects the heart of the show.

Our challenge was to reflect on a way to demonstrate the four seasons in a unique and iconic way.
